It appears the Honda Goldwing is going to have some new competition.  The unveiling is later today.....

Is it another V-Twin?

I can't see Goldwing riders changing brands for a V-Twin Cruiser.

The Royal Star Venture is a 1300cc V-4. I owned a 1984 Venture, and it was a comfortable, powerful motorcycle.  The RS Venture is a somewhat "cruiser-ized" version. I liked many of the Venture's features, but it was heavy and (for my 31" inseam) rather tall at the saddle. (If memory serves, Yamaha used a souped up version of that V-4 in the Vmax.)

I watched a bit of the live feed...there was too much yak for me to spend daylight hours watching them talk about the heated passenger back rest and accessory mounts.  Now the link provide a YouTube video ad.....it is a big fancy V-Twin.

I stand corrected. Looks like the 2018 Star Venture is a 1700cc V-twin, according to the Ultimate Motorcycling website (The V-4 Venture 1300 having been discontinued in 2013.)

Not a lightweight at 950+ pounds, so I won't be going shopping for one.

It's actually a 1900cc (1850 /113ci). Same motor as my stratoliner or the raider. My strat is pretty heavy, but it's so well balanced that it glides into turns. Literally the only time I notice it's heavy is when I have to back it up, and this new yammy has reverse! I'm no where near ready for the rolling couch, but I'm a big time yamaha fan and this excites me from a competition standpoint, and for features to trickle down into other models.

I will at least give Yammy some credit for introducing a number of innovative new models the past few years.  They have really been at the fore front.

Most Goldwingers are not V-Twin fans for their touring bike.

Goldwing stands alone, with 40+ years of refinement , don't think Honda is worried about another V-Twin.

Just what the world needs, another monstrous V-twin. Harley sales are down 14% so far this year - perhaps the market is saturated.

You're right, it's hard times everywhere. But I'm glad their staying commuted to the segment. And hey yamaha has been on fire the last few years in the everything but big bore cruiser segments.

@Dave....I recall a Harley ad from years ago: big, burly biker, bedroll bungeed to the sissybar, frowning at the camera, captioned: "If you want all the comforts of home....stay there!"

I think BMW's K1600GTL is the only thing that the Goldwing has to worry about.

Those costs are really getting up there, pushing 30K OTD.....   All the big cc cruisers are getting there as well.   Embarrassed
