Hi new here, just recently got my bike and was wondering if this leak was that cap I keep hearing about or if I do in fact need a head gasket, oil leaks out while riding to a point where I pretty much have to fill up every time I ride or it starts ticking, also have trouble getting it to start at first, have to drain the carb, choke it and hit it with starter fluid to get it to maybe start, after it starts up that first time I normally don't have anymore issues for the rest of the day, so I was thinking maybe compression issues that come with needing a HG but hoping it's not, having trouble starting it today too

If you're leaking that much oil, I would suspect the head plug.
When it goes bad and left that way, it can be very bad.
But it can be numerous leaks.  Only a good cleaning and observation can tell.

Starting issue, my 1st guess would be sparky, get a new one.

Do you prime the bowl after draining?
My first Savage needed choked even on warm days ,first start.
I haven't used the choke to start this one. PO told me don't.

I'm working on the same issue, although not as severe as your leak.

FYI: If you didn't already catch it in your reading of the technical/reference section, Verslagen makes a head plug that's aluminum with high-temp o-rings to replace the stock rubber ones.

Do you have the stock petcock? they can cause a lot of issues ,like  starting /or even gas in your oil ,you should check ,testing your petcock in the tech. section.
