justin_o_guy2 Serious Thumper Offline What happened? Posts: 55279 East Texas, 1/2 dallas/la.	If I disappear 05/30/17 at 09:52:27 The generator crapped out. We've been without power for two nights. Putting a Dual Fuel conversion on it so it will run on propane or gasoline was a good plan. Rumor has it that we will be out of power for a few days yet. No trips out of town today..

And I don't want to hand over the responsibility of delivering paper cut insults to anyone I haven't seen in action..

Power was back around 5:30 yesterday. We were dark for about 16 hours before I hauled out the generator and spent the time hooking up. Ran it just over 24 hours. Costs a ton more to make yerown juice. The propane setup was so cool.. I refill my own bottles, so the shop heater bottle and torch bottle, grill, and generator don't require a trip to town or money, just connect the hose,,

A few years ago I was watching some really cool generators on eBay. They were removed from railroad cars, I believe they were 10K watt and they had low speed 2 cylinder Lister type diesel engines. They were built like tanks and would run for years and they sold for a couple thousand dollars .......and it would have made our entire house ready for the apocalypse as long as I could stock up on some fuel.

The only thing that really kept me from doing it was they would have required a trip halfway across the US to go pick it up. So far I don't regret the decision not to get one, and I have only had one power outage that lasted 3 days and the 7.5K generator kept our food from spoiling.

Someday I will be old......But not today!
