lifting the rear wheel.

Has anybody found a lift for the rear of our bikes?
I tried Harbor Freight. They have two, neither of which will work with the Zuki :'(
I am thinking that a front wheel chock is probably the best solution.
I have a floor jack but it is a bit of a performance to use.

Norm,
I use something home made similar to the one used here on YouTube. I had to adjust the height somewhat, but it is really effective.

From the Home Page, click "DIY Tools" link, then "Rikko's Build Your Own Bike Lift/Stand"....on my computer, the photo links still work

floor jack under the muff mount will lift the rear just fine.
when I lift the front, 2 jack stands, 1 under the right footpeg, 1 under the left motor mount bolt.

Here's a board made by gyrobob for use with a HF jack, or most other MC jacks.
The cuts will work on a ryca cafe build, not all may not be needed for a stock bike being the foot controls are in different locations.

I use a harbor freight stand for the front wheel with some tie downs to hold the bike upright and then use a regular jack under the muffler bracket to lift the rear end.

Ohiomoto,
The bracket for the muffler looks very flimsy to me. You have had no bending down there?
When I first got my bike I tried that and it seemed to bend the bracket so I stopped lifting. It is the perfect place to lift the rear if it is sturdy enough.
Home Depot has some small blocks with 8' of line which I might try. I can sling them from the garage ceiling. Great for oil changes etc. Not sure about lifting the weight of the entire rear.

I had the same reservations about that rear bracket... but it seems like a common lift point among people on the list, and is bolted to the frame in a triangular sort of way... And, if it's good enough for the mechanical wizards on this list, then it's good enough for me

I wouldn't sit on the bike but that bracket is enough to pop the rear wheel off the ground long enough to change a tire or adjust the belt.

Yeah, the lift points seem to push more on the exhaust hanger, but that's welded to the bracket...

I sure wish Suzuki supplied an accessory center stand. Standard would be better.

I recently went through the bike lifting issue. I read a bunch on the forum and weighed my options and chose to buy a craftsman bike lift.
The next day I met a guy who rode his 125 Yamaha up from Argentina, on his way to Alaska. He was having trouble with his rear drum brake, so I took him to my house and we lifted his bike and fixed it. So the first time I used my lift was on somebody else's bike
