Learned something else today as well The u shaped bracket on the 03 fender clears the 1piece seat so I installed a threaded insert in the fenderand plan to use it so I can change seats anytime.

Yes, it is very important to have a seat that is comfortable for your "female of choice".
I changed the seat and added a backrest on my sporty 1200 for my wife.
I like riding with her but she was not comfortable nor did she feel secure with the old seat. The bike does not look as sleek as before BUT i prefer riding with with her, and she really appreciates that I was willing to do that FOR HER.

She would really like to have one of those big old comfy couches like they put on the Goldwings!
