speedo illumination??????
05/15/17 at 09:11:14

Hello every one,
I am new to the Savage .com forum. And new yo the Savage motorcycle also.
This may sound stupid... but, does the stock speedo on a 1999 have a light in the face? All the indicator, and other lights work but the dial itself is dark! That makes it a real bastard to see how fast I'm going after dark or in the morning on my way to work!!
Thanks in advance
Mike

It's on all the time which probably makes it burn out quicker.

The darn thing is 18 years old!  It's about time for a new bulb! Wink\

It you buy some LED's....they will be brighter, last longer and you can get them in colors!  (I believe the bulbs are miniature wedge, and that the speedometer light was 3 watt, and the indicator lights were 1.7 watts).

Yep.....you can change the bulbs without remove the speedometer from the tank....they just plug into the back.

You'll get used to taking the tank off.  Really no big deal after a while. Cool

Just prepare a place to park the tank, up high enough to not crimp the speedometer cable.
