So fresh and so clean, clean
05/03/17 at 08:08:08

I've been doing a bunch of spring cleaning on all of the bikes in my household. Finding some very stubborn grit and grime. Been looking into cleaning products and found an interesting write up for household cleaners
https://rideapart.com/articles/household-cleaners-can-use-clean-bike

I'm curious though, what are others using?
Got any good tips for cleaning products?

I use lemon scented furniture polish on most every part of my bike... works on plastic metal, glass, vinyl, chrome, etc...
... and it smells lovely.... Grin

I hardly even notice the thin veneer of gakk on the bike as I'm cruising the back roads. The trip to the doctor has changed. Instead of Hwy 154 from Gilmer, ( Pronounced Gimmer by old people who have lived here all their lives, and GeeYulMur by most others, but no matter How I say it, I feel somehow a bit embarrassed, as if just Saying it makes me a redneck. You can all just Shaddup , right flippin Now. I'm not a red neck, honest, seriously, for real.  )
Anyway, I've found roads that cross the two  North/ South roads and meander to a less traveled East/West road that gets me there, at a relaxed speed, and coming back I've found roads that keep me off of Highway 80 except for a stretch of about six blocks, where I have to get under the overpass to cross a rail road,
The point is, yeah, clean is good. Riding is better.

Anyway, the whole
Must Keep it Clean and Shiny
feeling WAS there, back in 05, when the first Savage was new. The 02 has had Some cleaning, it's an opportunity to inspect things closely.

Works great on helmet visors too. Bugs don't sink as bad.

What's good way to make the plastic around the speedo less faded looking? Anything you can apply to it to make it look black again besides paint?

Genuine 100% Silicone Oil rejuvenates and protects plastics and rubber. Bump into the black plastic with some wax and it's gonna leave a mark. Start cleaning by treating the plastic and rubber bits, bike or car.
Products like ArmorAll evaporate off, leaving the plastic dryer than before.
Call around to copier repair shops and ask if they have any fuser oil. They will ask for the make and model, you just want the oil.. I've paid $5.00 a pint. Drops on tee shirt pulled tight on fingertips cover a lot of ground.

fuser oil? Cool! Where I work we have a copier/printer guy on premises, he should have this.

I've never seen it hurt anything but I start with a test spot when I get a new type of oil.

Anything with silicon in it is excellent for visors as it causes water to bead and blow off in the wind. When I used it on my car windscreen when I had a car, I did not need to use the windshield wipers at a speed over 60kms/hour!

I've used Mother's Back To Black with some success on parts of my truck and a Chevy Avalanche I used to have.

Maybe try the Pledge first if it's cheaper.

Silicon is a chemical element with symbol Si and atomic number 14. A hard and brittle crystalline solid with a blue-gray metallic luster, it is a tetravalent metalloid
