Do you know the difference between being a member of a tribe, being an enrolled member of a tribe, and being enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe? Yes, their is a significant difference.

To be an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe one must prove their “degree/percentage of indian blood.” They must provide evidence of their lineage. My understanding is most tribes required at least a ¼th to be enrolled. Each tribe can specify what percentage is required; however, it is an important requirement. Wealthier tribes offer a whole host of benefits including full health care, free tuition, and even distributions. Federally recognized tribes must provide an enormous amount of information about the tribe as a whole, the land, as well as the tribal members. To be recognized with this status is important because they become sovereign. Yes, state laws are often out of that jurisdiction once on the reservation.

Back to EW, the two tribes of which she said she was a part of had no documentation nor recollection of her being a tribal member. I repeat none, she is said to be 1/32 native American. She applied to college as a native American rode that wagon her whole career. She promotes herself a person of principle, yet compromised her integrity at every opportunity to put herself in position for advancement. And yes I believe she was given preferential treatment because of political correctness, diversity policies, and affirmative action.

OK - pay attention....

She NEVER got special treatment nor did she further her carreer nor did she EVER apply to a school listing that she was a Native American.

She was listed in a lawyers directory as such but that's pretty much it.

There is no story here...

Go ahead and protest her policies, but the whole "Pocahontas" thing... it's moot.
