Carb seal method for 660 petcock change

 Anyone know of a specific part to seal the carburetor input where the stock petcock vacuum line attaches?

 I went to an auto parts store and they recommended I just crimp the stock hose and put a hose clamp on it.  I need better ideas than that.

They do sell port caps, but they don't last very long and you'll end replacing every year.
They gave you a good tip, but just cut the line 1 to 2" long and shove a bolt in it.

When I installed my Raptor a  few years ago I squirted some Silicone Gasket Sealer in the stock hose that I cut off and then threaded an Allen Bolt in while the Silicone was still wet and put a clamp on the tube to hold it onto the vacuum port. It will last as long as the bike. The vacuum caps you purchase at the auto parts store only last a few years at best.

Mine was cut about 2-3" long, the end was filled with silicone, folded over and then zip tied by the previous owner.   No leaks.

I looked around for a small machine screw that would just barely fit in the port...I screwed it in using a dot of blue Loctite sealer on the threads and then put a rubber cap from the foot of an old dish dryer rack on it...that was 4 years ago and it's still fine.

I bought a pack of rubber caps at the auto store.  I installed one, and put a spare in the tool kit.  I had it on the bike a couple years before switching to a different carb....and it held up for that length of time.

I guess the rubber caps I bought were better than some - a few members said the ones they installed aged quickly.

I just swapped out the stock petcock for a Raptor on my wifes' 03 Savage. I cut the vacuum line off about 2" long, found a machine screw that fit into it snug. I squirted a wad of silicone into the end of the tube, and pushed the screw into it. Then I put a zip tie around it and pulled it tight with pliers. Let the silcone cure overnight, then put it back on the vacuum port on the carb.

I can tell you EXACTLY what it feels like to get hit by a truck. I do not recommend anyone try it themselves.

 Thanks for the ideas.  I will probably try to epoxy a screw in the current hose and clamp it down.

Didn't someone here use the brass from a spent .22 to cover the hole?
