Posts: 69 Carlsbad, CA Gender:	OEM Saddlebags 03/31/17 at 14:28:05 So I just recently bought my 2006 S40 in February and it came with OEM saddlebags. I ended up just putting them over top of the seat, is this the correct way to fit them (with the saddle bag bars added to the fender)? Or are they somehow supposed to go under the seat? They seem really big for the bike.

They are big in my opinion too... but i have seen mucher wider bags....but i got and excellent deal on them so ...works for me

Posts: 3806 osceola new york Gender:	Re: OEM Saddlebags Reply #3 - 04/02/17 at 12:35:18 If your worried about theft or if you need to mount them a bit higher ,you could cut the strap and punch it with holes to lace it back together and run it under the seat. The only problem is you may have to relocate the rectifier to insure proper cooling.

I poked a couple of holes in the back of each bag where it leans against the support, then ran a plastic cable tie through the holes and around the support. If I need to take the bags off I just cut the cable tie and replace it when I put the bags back on.

The loops sewn into the bags are useless. They're in the wrong place.

Old N' Slow,

Thank you. I agree with the useless part of the loops that are sewn into the bags.

The TyRaps are a good solution, and quick enough to take off. I am probably only going to use the bags on Sundays.

I go to a bikers coffee on Sunday mornings and the dopes that own the coffee place are too stupid to make a proper cup of tea. I have a thermos bottle that I can use and take me own spot of tea.

I'd have to see about welding a piece of flat bar across and drilling a couple of holes through the back of the bag and bar and bolting them using fender washers and washers made from rubber(old inner tube?) easily removed and replaced and water tight.
