HOWTO: Aftermarket Pegs
03/18/17 at 22:13:02

Suki(d)z,

This is a way I solved my pegs after having a fall where one of them bent. I have to tell you that I am not a much of a pro, but I had a necessity and found a "creative" way to get these done for about 40 dollars and about 30 minutes.

1. Buy the pegs you like. I went with these made for some Harley bikes.
2. These are the screws you will need.
3. Follow these steps.

This is your goal. ON the back of the photo you can see the original screw that came out of the bike. Of course, it won't fit with the new peg's holes so I needed to improvise.

And this is what I bought.

  • 4  6MM x 18MM Metric Fender Washers
  • 2 6MM x 1.0 x 20MM Metric Socket Head Cap Screw (allen screws)
  • 2 Nylon Spacers 3/8x171x1/2 (YOU DONT NEED THESE, I bought them just in case for the size)
  • 1 Foot of Aluminum or Copper Tubing, 3/8 - (you'll cut 1/2 inch of this)

Cut the Tubbing, put it in the hole of your pegs. See how the screw has a better filling... the washers will help.

So let's move to that step.

Tape them. These little devils will keep falling if you don't.

And make a hole for your Screw to go in.

Kruzader,

Very clever use of everyday items that can be purchased at any hardware store.

That's it!

With the hole on the tape... slip the pegs into your bike. Put the screw through and adjust.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

NOTE: maybe a little bit longer screw would've done. But they feel pretty solid.

Also the pegs were about 30 dollars on ebay.

Thanks Kenny. Took me close to 2 hours at the hardware store. So I hope it helps others.
