Blacked out things are much harder to see in any light, having said that it gets rid of some of Suzuki's crappy quality chrome and polished aluminium, but I prefer light coloured bikes anyway. At least they don't appear to have gone to matt blacks or greys. At the present moment, I'd rather be "dorky" and seen, rather than half wittedly "cool" and dead.

I'm a fan of the styling of the Sportster iron 883 and the Sportster 48 so that probably explains why I find the 2017 S40 color scheme attractive. My own S40 is a 2006 (red) and I've always thought it would look better with a bit less chrome and more black.

Well, we didn't ALL agree. I think the 2017 model is one of the best looking S40s( or Savages for that matter) since ever.

The old Savages with the two piece seats, the passenger backrests and the cartoon looking indian headdress tank decals always seemed especially unattractive to me.

A black colored engine dissipate heat well, plus, it hides the oil leaks!

Reply #14 - 03/14/17 at 00:26:46 Ruttly, I have almost always worn Dorky white helmets and since 2012 a Dorky high vis yellow jacket, the yellow is fading a bit now. The 2016 S40's were available in a white and black, I think. I will agree with you on the tank sticker and no doubt some techie here will work out a way of removing it without damaging the paint.
