Will a Savage forkbrace fit my S40?
03/05/17 at 00:13:06
Hi there guys.I recently received a forkbrace from a company in America for my S40 Boulevard (2013)...and they have inadvertantly sent me a forkbrace for the LS650 Savage by mistake. There were two options, the Savage brace (1984-2004),and the S40 (2004-present),and they sent me the earlier one (I did get my order correct as the invoice was for the S40)...question:before I go to send it back would it fit on my S40 anyway perhaps?...like, are the fork dimensions the same?...any help much appreciated...Pete

The s40 has a fork protector, a ring of plastic you'll probably have to pop off to get the right one to fit.
So depending on what they did to accommodate the groove, the older one may not fit right.

Ok thanks for that...it sure is a hassle being so far away across the Pacific...maybe wise just to wait and get the right part from them, and then if they give me the cold shoulder, see what I can do with the older one...sigh....people really need to double check peoples orders eh...

S40 is an LS650. The fork brace will fit.

If your brace has a ridge to engage a groove in the forks that a late model S40 would have , then if you can get that ridge out and Not enlarge the inside diameter past the area other than where that ridge is, it'll go.
No ridge? It'll go.
Best to lay something on the fender, shoebox cardboard, something.

Not sure what brace you got (probably not TKAT as I don't think he messes with invoices and paperwork) but here is the TKAT as well as good pics of what the fork brace indention look like that are to accommodate the plastic fork protectors, etc.
