can chain tensor bull's-eye
03/02/17 at 01:32:28
Good days to all, and thank you for accepting me as a member of SuzukiSavage.
My question, maybe it is stupid, but it is not possible to open a "bull's-eye" similar to the oil control to always have the tensor and chain monitored?
greetings to all!

Might be possible, but the window would have to be put in the clutch cover in the oil filter recess. Someone who has an engine apart (or the pieces readily available) could verify.
You would have to pull the oil filter cover and filter to look at it.
Better than having to pull the entire clutch cover.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

That's a fine idea, and should be done at the same time as reworking the design to include a kickstarter .

I made one of these, but you need to make a measurement when the cover is open.

The hole you'd need is thru the backside of the filter cavity.
Then you'd need a plug, couldn't sit very tall or be very deep.

He is talking about a window, like the oil site glass.
IF the positioning was so you could see the tensioner, then all you would need to do is cut a hole in the oil filter cavity and JB weld a piece of glass or plastic (like the oil site glass) in place.
Versy says there isn't much room so mount it on the inside or outside?.. where ever it would fit best I guess.
Even if it did weep a little bit.. so what? It's leaking into the oil filter cavity.
No, I don't intend to modify mine.. I leave that for the experts

Something like this ... it's just a sketch. With a medium resistant glass or similar heat resistent material.

This proposal has a greater field of vision. Just figure out where to cut ... well it's just an idea.

It would have to be further to the back to avoid the oil passages in the cover.
Here is a picture from Savage Greg's CD.

The top center hole isn't possible and the forward hole is useless.

maybe you could do something clever with fibre optic cable and watch it from the riders seat.

An oil site class if it leaked would flow from the filter area back to the sump, decreasing oil pressure to the motor and not be easy to detect. It would be much better to purchase one of verslagen's tensioners an have no worry .

Well, it was just an idea ... interesting on paper, but difficult in practice.
Little space, and not very well located ...
I will continue to thinking!
You may end up introducing a camera through the oil fill hole.

I see your point.
IF I were to do this crazy mod, I would definitely mount the glass inside the filter cavity, so the oil pressure would push it against the cover instead of trying to push it away.
