First  their is a difference between,
‘Voluntary’,  ‘Assigned’  ‘Requesting’.

Yes, a very high, ‘vetting’, process should occur,
(don’t want another ‘Fort Hood’)
And the, ‘Marine One”, (which the helicopters are called, when the POTUS is aboard)
their are 19 of them, and more than More than 800 Marines supervise the operation of the Marine One.
And they are not, (last 7-6 years),  ‘volunteers’, they were, ‘Assigned’,
(the ones that had, or would have, direct contact with the POTUS & Family)
and the people that were assigned, went through a extensive vetting process,
I am sure many of them did not make the cut.

I call it a rant.  The equipment is not even chosen by the military, but by the congress(Repulican led for the past 10 aweful years).  They parcel out purchase orders based on who bribed them, er contributed the most (I only suspect this).  Year after year, the military says it doesn't want this or that weapons system but it gets them anyway (Cause that's the way it works), rather than some things they do want.
