Head Cover / Valve Cover Screws

Hi,

I have just mixed head cover screws by the accident. Is it possible to match screws location by the length?

Yes.

Don't over-tighten them - the threaded aluminum strips very easily.

I've been wondering... Why a range on the torque?

I usually feel inclined to try and set my tool for the average value (10N/m in this case), but not sure what would be preferrable... lower or upper limit.

Just a guess, but I figure the engineers figure the minimum clamping pressure required to keep it together and not leak and the near maximum torque the threads or bolts will survive. I don't use anything but thumb on the 1/4" ratchet head and the pressure of closing fingers on the little stuff. I can feel the clamping moment.

and the L70 bolt has to be in place when you put the cover on as you won't have room to set in in later if the motor isn't out of the bike.
