Squid - Definitiion

I found 2 definitions for a "squid" that I found amusing.....although unfortunately they are accurate. Sad

SQUID

A young motorcyclist who overestimates his abilities, boasts of his riding skills when in reality he has none. Squid bikes are usually decorated with chrome and various anodized bits. Rear tyres are too wide for their own good, swingarm extended. Really slow in the corners, and sudden bursts of acceleration when a straight appears. Squids wear no protection, deeming themselves invincible. This fact compounds itself with the fact that they engage in 'extreme riding'--performing wheelies and stoppies in public areas. Squids wreck a lot. Derived from 'squirly kid'

An extremely rare animal with a short lifespan. Usually a new sport bike enthusiast with the reasoning of a lunatic, whom you might see thrashing on an R1 wearing sandals, shorts, and a tee.
When found lying motionless on the pavement, this creature transforms itself into a stream of blood, exposed flesh, and broken limbs. Hence the squid moniker.

That's an old motocross term that was thrown around a lot in the early 80's.  Sounds like someone updated it to the "Star Boyz" wanna be's out there.

An old motorcyclist (yes, even older than me) once told me that the origins of the term "squid" came from the real squid's method of propulsion.  It expels water out the back and shoots forward rapidly in a straight line for a short distance.  It can't turn or sustain its' speed very long.  The novice hot shot on his sport bike rides the same way.  He cranks the throttle open, shoots ahead but can't handle the curves.

That's the definition I'm familiar with, although I was Army.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

Squids contribute to society in many different ways...

Squids have provided much needed data for motorcycle safety studies like this one:

Shopping for  a new liver? You may be thanking a squid for that fresh, supple organ.

Wanna see videos on how NOT to take a turn? Well, turn to the squid videos - heck, we should buy these people GoPros.

If you need brake parts, wheels, engines or other parts for a sport bike....there are plenty to be had from crashed bikes on eBay.  The selection for used bodywork is pretty slim - most of that was damaged by the unsuccessful attempt at doing a wheelie/stoppie/burn out/donut/etc.

Someone who has No IDEA that it's a race. Keep it short, and ya just might win.
A broomstick through the intended victim's spokes would probably be a reasonable equalizer.
I'd probably prefer a 7,000 pound forklift, they seem to be pretty effective in slowing a bike down.
