Tried to save a few bucks
02/23/17 at 20:09:10

Being the cheap a$$ that I am I figured I would make my own seat for the tracker to save a chunk of change. So I had the foam I got with the RYCA kit and a plastic mud flap to cut up for a seat pan and some heavy duty  brown alligator  skin pleather. So I started cutting the mud flap and here comes the wife,"what are you doing" she asks. So I told her I was making a seat for the tracker. Right then I knew I said something wrong,ya know that brief silence before the major bitching starts ! I was trying to remember if I was supposed to be doing something she asked me to do and I was drawing a blank like someone sucked all my short term memory out thru my ear , zip , nada , nothing ! And then it happened , the stare and her lips started in motion , oh crap I did it now by forgetting what she wanted me to do ! Here it comes " Oh no you don't ,you cheap son of a bittch, here's the best part ," You will take a day off of work , You will make yourself a appointment , You will drive to Hollister Ca and You will have Corbin make that seat" ! The whole time I'm totally speechless ! As she walks away muttering "3 years building that dam thing , your such a cheap a$$" as the door to the garage slams and I'm still standing there with my mouth open not knowing what just happened !
It was like "Who are you and what have you done with my wife" kinda moments !
I have the best wife there is and I have no idea what she sees in me !
So I guess Corbin it is !

LOL  Good wife, great seat, but that's too much money!  Now get back in that garage and get it done.  Ha!

Funny thing is, I'm a cheap ass too, but when I do spend extra to get something nice, I'm usually glad I did.

I'm not going to argue about it cause she's right. Got about 10k into it ,why not finish it with a nice seat and a real nice paint job. Having a friend from work to do the paint work. Right now got some foam with two way tape for a seat and black primer tank and grey primer fiberglass seat.
Needs to be finished in style !

Does Corbin make custom seats like that? I thought they only made bolt-on replacements for OEM seats.

You can buy online but they recommend that you bring your bike and they will custom fit it to your butt and get you riding position you desire while you wait !

I just may give them a call for my DRZ Tracker.

My Corbin on my sportster  is top quality , I'm glad I didn't have that seat custom fitted cause that usually locks your butt into one spot on the seat and I don't/can't ride like that I need to slide some forwards & backwards.
If I feel the needs to get tucked I can scoot my butt back and get tucked in or just if your butt gets bored you can move around some. All my bikes have wider upright bars,no cafes at this time,I always liked the flat track tuck position.
