Definitely Pre-existing condition.    Hopefully there are some other positive aspects of ACA to be retained too. (But I'm just not aware of any...)

Yes that is good too, but might be short sighted as if they go for any vet/dr. degree it's about 10yrs more education.
18+4+10=32
So I think as long as they are a student would be good.

First, I think you math is off, if you go for a doctorate it would be 18 + 10 = 28 the 10 years for a doctorate includes the 4 years for your bachelors.  With that being said I could find a lot of problems and potential abuses with "if you are a student".  I think 26 is more than enough, after undergraduate you could get a job while going to grad school, I did, or you could use some of your, or take out student loans to pay for a health insurance policy.

Lets just start with being HONEST......

Cost, coverage, etc....
Then lets build upon that.

Also, I believe much of the focus is on "doctoring"....
That is but one part of the total healthcare equation.
We need to reign in the FDA, and BIG pharma, as well as factor in lifestyle choices, as risk factors, indicators.

I do NOT want to subsidize a fat, lazy, smoking and boozing SOB......
They must be held accountable.
Am I a cold sumbeeech, no, I just want a workable and realistic system.
And yes, that also means if you are a 80 year old male, and decide you want to be a female, before you croak, I ain't covering the cost for you  Grin

You can have "tax deductible" organization that can support stuff like this, if they think it has that sort of need and merit....

We need to think VW coverage for all, not Cadillac....
But if you can afford such a ride, I think it should be available, at an additional cost, after you satisfy any/all mandatory participation (into the program)  the deplorable have to pay!

I agree with you totally, and no your not a cold SOB.  The problem is that a lot of people in this country don't understand the concept that you are free to do what you want, but your not free to do what you want without consequences.

Put in a single payer or public option and allow states to compete.

The main reason that some states have seen higher than average rates is that they're basically run by the insurance companies.

You'd hope 'bamy thought that's what he was getting with the 'if you like your plan' statement.
If he read it, might have done some editing cause that would be the only way every one could keep their plan.

I do NOT want to subsidize a fat, lazy, smoking and boozing SOB

The very nature of insurance is a balanced risk sharing.
Insurance companies have people who figure risk and determine the cost of the coverage.

Expecting a single man to be happy being forced to buy a
One size fits all
policy, and having ovarian cancer in his coverage
Might make him question the reasoning.
But, I guess it's all good as long as
She pays for testicular cancer..

Before the government started fixing it, it was fine.

Yes Jog, you are right, re: shared cost, however, that is for a profit earning venture.
This, like school, should not be allowed to forecast cost on profitability but on maintaining cost to cover agreed upon coverage, nothing more, nothing less, real actual cost, realistic cost, not some bloated gubbermint scam.

I think their is a difference between risk sharing and paying for others bad behavior.  There is a difference between someone who gets diabetes because they have there pancreas removed due to pancreatic cancer and someone who gets diabetes because of their big fat fabulous life

its not that you can't smoke or be 600lbs or ride its that you should pay more for insurance if you do so.  In respect to riding I do pay more because medical is part of my motorcycle insurance which I obviously wouldn't be paying if I didn't ride.
