Nope not a GR-650!  The GR-650 was indeed a Tempter but very different than the LS400 Tempter of OUS.  I have a 1983 GR-650 Tempter sitting in the garage for a future project.  it is a 650 cc twin with the engine architecture loosely based on the GS450 twin.

It has one very unique feature in that it has a clutch on the fly wheel.  The clutch would lock up at low rpm and add weight to the flywheel for low rpm smoothness then at high rpm the clutch would release and let the extra weight spin free.  at that point the fly wheel was lighter and the bike would spin faster.

I've seen some nice GR650 builds...

...but it has one of the ugliest seats around!  Looks like a mattress from the side.  ha ha

To my tastes the ST has certain aesthetic advantages over the chopper-wannabe style of the LS.

Agreed, but I think they did a really nice job with the one the OP posted.  It's not even a chopper really.  I like what they did.

Very nice and much more easy to build I suppose.
Suzuki has probably never sold the ST in Italy, I can't find any for sale.
