I just can't get into the look created when the seat is hanging out like a "slab" over the rear tire.
It just looks funny to me when the seat and swingarm don't have any physical connection.

That DR-650 motor seems like a good place to start any build !
I suspect the motor is kinda tall for most mid-size frames ? But 45 HP and 100 mm piston ... of pull.

I wouldn't mind a project bike based off a DR650, CX500 or DRz400.

Yeah my buddy Robert built that Bimota HB1, he builds what we dream about and can't afford ! A true top level builder ! He inspires me to be a better builder ! In my world inspiration and cash flow are not on the same level as his ! As long as my next build surpasses the last I will be happy, that's the real world bottom line !

That Ural really has a cool look. The front has this weird, almost swingarm for the suspension.

Several early motorcycle companies used leading link (Earls) front suspension (Greeves, BMW, DKW). The advantage is that when the brake is applied, the torque on the swing arm reduces or prevents the front end from dropping like it does on conventional forks. The disadvantage was it that it could be heavier than conventional forks.
