Savage LS 650 Paint
12/02/16 at 16:42:02

Good Evening,  I am new to this site so Hi to all.
I have an 03 Savage LS 650.  It is Blue/Green in color.

I am looking for a vile of touch up paint.
I pulled the gas tank to find the paint code YV4 then went to Color Rite
The info there says YV4 is Metallic Surf Green, they show a swatch of this color and it is no where near the color of my bike.

Does anyone know if Metallic Surf Green is actually a Blue/Green color?
Is Color Rite's swatch wrong?

Don't want to buy it if it really is the light green color they indicate.

Any info appreciated,

Timbo6

Take a piece off, like the air filter cover. Go to an automotive paint supply. They can look at it with equipment, and recreate the color. The cost? IDK..
And you don't want a vile. That's how it would look if I fixed it.
You want a vial.

I have no idea about your color. Sorry.

I DO know that the samples online are usually not even close. Color Rite is pretty reputable. Go with their recommendation.  Wink

Thanks for the responses, Yeh vial looks better...lol
Kris's post is the one, If the bike in the pic is metalic surf green then that is
the color I require. Blue Green, yet the swatch shown is a totally diff color, this is why I posted this?

I also took one of the side covers off and went to NAPA + Lordco (these are the only two in our town)  neither could take the paint reading, they stated that they needed a totally flat surface and my covers are rounded.
Strike One

Thanks all for the info, maybe I will just order the small bottle and see what happens...

Anyone out there ever used the Metallic Surf Green - Color Code YV4?

Is it the blue green color as in the bike pictured above or is it truly the
color of the swatch shown above?

Thx for your responses

Just go with Color Rite and ignore the sample.

According to Color Rite:

Color swatch is just an approximation for reference. It is not an exact color representation.

The paint looks pretty darn good in the photo.  What are you trying to do?  Touch-up?  My experience with touch-up painting is that it never matches even if it's supposedly the exact recipe and/or OEM.  Age, oxidation, formulation, base differences.... something causes it not to be a perfect match....  I've been known to go to Hobby Lobby and get a few little $2 bottles of paint and play.  I'm with JOG...lol

If you have seen my paint work, you would know that
Vile
And
YUKK
Are very considerate , much too kind, if you're trying to describe my skills and abilities regarding painting.
I'm not shy about claiming my place in the world regarding my abilities to solve problems.. But painting is just Too Much like dancing. And I am as able to suck at those as anyone. I'm just horrible at painting.
