Personal information - personal "signature"

Is there a way on this forum to put in a "signature" so that it will appear on every post a person makes?

It would make it much easier than having to type in a "signature" in each post.

Also, I notice many have a little bit of a personal description on the left where their names show up as the poster. How does one put such a short description?
