Why do you say that?

Absolutely gorgeous.  Very well done!

Would love to see how you mounted the subframe if you get a chance...

The black forks & wheels give it a menacing look, very cool.
But,

I appreciate your detailed criticism but the tires actually mount differently depending on front or rear.  Wink

It attaches in the front with two M6 bolts and to the rear using two M8 bolts under the frame tubes where the fender attached to.

Here are the foot controls. The shifter and brake pedals are off the factory forward controls. I also cut off the pivots and welded them to the backside of the plate.

Crappy shot of the battery box and CDI.

Nerd,

I would give almost anything to have my foot pegs properly located like you have done yours.

Is that the RYCA rearset bracket, or did you make your own?

Great build, congrats. What handlebars are those? Also, agree with others, if you have the time, do a full project build report with a lot of pics.

No RYCA parts on here (they are so overpriced). I made them myself using some of the stock Savage forward control parts.

The handlebars were listed as 82 Ironhead bars. I was going to post more build thread pics but realized I didnt stop to take THAT many pictures during the process. Here are some...

Ugly!

Honda tank mocked up

Used a Harley 18" mag to set the rear wheel height and used a ratchet strap to compress the forks to match the stance I wanted

Lining up the chain and trying out the subframe

After this I stopped taking pictures since most of the work was done anyway.

If you look at motorcycle tires and think of the way that directional car tires work...they do look backwards.  Car tires have diagonal grooves to help push the rain outward as the tire rolls forward - motorcycle tires aren't designed to do that, as the tire cross section is rounded and the water can just squirt out regardless of the orientation of the grooves.

The back tire grooves are designed so that when the bike is leaned over and accelerating - the stress is aligned along the long part of the tread pattern.....and this helps reinforce the tread and keep it stable.  The front tire is designed the other way....so that when you are leaned over and braking.....the stress is aligned along the long part of the tread.  So....when mounted properly the rear tire grooves will run in the direction that you are used to seeing on cars - and the front tire will look like it is mounted backwards.

Great looking build.....You did an excellent job with the footpegs!

I do wonder how well can see with that headlight at night?  Can you see very far down the road?
