Nope. Honda misses the boat again. This won't last any longer than the Ascot did. Now that CB223S, picture of which Papa Bear posted in another thread, is the right direction. Punch that out to 350 or 400, add a kick start and tach. Currently only sold in Japan, it will probably never make it to our shores. So we're still stuck with cruisers, crotch rockets, and dirt devils. Finis.

I'm with HAPPYDAN on this one.  I hate the gas tank for starters.

This isn't going to help either: Same engine as the new 300 Rebel. I expect that Honda has the  issue  fixed by now but this would still make me think twice.

The earlier model  year 500 twins that used the same motor as the new 500 Rebel needed a valve check and possible adjustment at the 600 mile service. 8 shim and bucket valves.  A bunch of folks got a nasty surprise when they rode their new bike home and read the owner's manual. That's unacceptable IMO.  First check on the 300 Ninja isn't till 7500 miles I believe, and the new  little yamaha twin ( R3) doesn't need to be looked at till 26500.  Honda may have backed away from that by now. I don't know. I'd sure check if I was thinking about buying one though.

Got schooled by the local Honda dealer. It seems, in the great Honda motorcycle universe, we here Americans are kind of an asteroid - small and insignificant. Estimates for USA sales are less than 5% of Honda's worldwide market for motorcycles, so it's just not cost effective to market small and mid-sized street bikes here. I guess we have to take what they send us and like it or lump it. Tongue
