How to make a mess adding crush washer to oil plug

I am still cracking up about this bone headed move. When I changed the oil in my new (to me) savage the other day I forgot to replace the crush washer. I have read in many places that you could hold a vacuum to the fill hold and remove the oil plug real quick and not loose much oil so I thought I would give it a try so with my children's help I made a youtube video about it. What I forgot to do was insure that the vacuum hose was plugged in to the right place on the vacuum before I did this.

I certainly don't replace mine each time. Just monitor for a leak. Or did you forget to place the old one on the plug?

Would've been easier just to tip it on it's side. 45° and you can change the clutch cover gasket.
