Headlight, Horn and electric start malfunction
11/03/16 at 03:40:53

I had to switch out my solenoid for a new one, but now my headlight and horn is not working, along with my electric start button sounds like it is staying pressed for about 3-5 mins before releasing when the bike has turned over.
Taillights, turns signals all working fine, i know its electrical i just need some guidance.

GO back and inspect everything you touched and look at connectors, eyeball the electrics.. sometimes a meter isn't necessary, just Close visual inspection.

Sounds like a sticking solenoid.
This is not acceptable.
A test light to prove that the solenoid is Not being activated, yet, is engaged, would prove that it is faulty.

Got it thank you so much. Where on the wire harness would the connection to the headlight and horn be? I have read that the connector underneath the tank sometimes can become loose, but i have not moved the tank in so long also i even gave the wire a tug to see if it popped out, nothing.

Left side of the frame, under the tank....about midway between the front and rear of the tank.

You should also check the wiring harness and wires around the key switch.  The wire that goes to the tail light is separate from the one that goes to the front of the bike....and it sounds like you were working in that area.

Start studying where you were working.
But that solenoid staying engaged, running the starter motor is just not okay.
You gotta see if it's getting power, engaging it, or if it's just sticking.

I just went through the same thing...
It ended up being the starter relay...
Got a new one on ebay for $8.50...

Correction... my headlight and horn were working... Undecided

Is that the relay on the new bikes that turns  off the headlight when you hit the starter?
