Oil filler cap
10/21/16 at 12:05:51

I have an 06 s40, with a plastic filler cap, and it appears the o-ring is deformed (almost has a tapered face because of how it fits) this o-ring should have a round profile like any other ring, am I right? If so would it be acceptable to flip said ring around, to put the work part towards the top of the cap?

I have a new one coming from suzuki, but for the time being this should be okay, right?

I only say this cause it's plastic and under any circumstances could not harm the block.

....right?

It is round in profile when it is new - but heat and pressure deforms it over time....and ultimately it gets stiff loses some flexibility.

Flip it over if you want...it won't hurt anything.  And if you have a good hardware/plumbing/auto store near you -you most likely can find a $ 0.35 replacement.

I do believe it's the blocks that are painted black have the plastic cap and the bare aluminum has the cast cap.

I could be wrong though Huh

My filler cap is special...it is made from Unobtanium.  It was nearly impossible to get one made from it!

Another great source for stuff like this or almost anything is McMaster-Carr.

I have done business with this company for dozens of years (I was a purchasing agent in a manufacturing firm) and have never had one bad experience!

They also sell directly to public now.  And they have a very user-friendly  web site:  www.mcmaster.com

Mine is made of polished billet aluminum with a Suzuki "S" on it !
The solid gold , platinum , unobtanium all weight too much and that why my bike is faster than all yours.
