Keep blowing a fuse
10/20/16 at 11:14:56

My Savage keeps blowing a fuse. I rode a mile down the road on Sunday and suddenly I blew a fuse and had to push it back.
I replaced the fuse today, took it for a test ride, didn't even make it half a mile and blew the fuse again.
I'm not very savvy on electrical issues. Any suggestions/thoughts?

What, if anything , have you done to the bike lately before this started?  Initial thoughts would be to look for loose or rubbing wires that are exposed and shorting out somewhere?

Are you capable of removing the tank and checking all of the harness connections under there?

Others with more "electrical" insight will be along shortly  Wink

pull the fuse that keeps blowing and replace it with a 12v light.
then go hunting for the short.

the wiring going into the headlight is the 1st place I'd look.
It's a small hole with no grommet and the wiring will handle a direct short w/out burning up.
If that's not it, disconnect the headlight to save your battery.

I had a mysterious case with my VX800 where ever time I went to start the bike the fuse had blown while it was off  Huh  Huh  Huh

It turns out the horn wire was being pinched on the fork stop every time I parked and turned the wheel in.
