T Kat versus Superbrace
10/15/16 at 06:01:29

First of all, as much as I applaud the small business owner who is going toe to toe with the big boys and trying to make a living by just outperforming them, well, with the forkbrace , that ain't quite so..  The dude has more time and materials in these things than the price reflects. He's cutting the bike riders a ton of slack.
If I remember even close, the thing should be at least $220.00, but, I digress..

I had a Superbrace , installation was not fun. I have not installed this one, but upon inspection, I think it's gonna be a snap. It's not just raw aluminum, it's media blasted, the collars have a ridge to set on the dust seal, and it's recessed underneath the X part, looks good, from a design perspective, and the mounting holes are slotted, giving everyone a bit of room for imperfection.
I was pleasantly surprised to hold it, feel the surfaces alignment across the cuts, and eyeballing the fork clamp parts,,  yep, straight,,
Might get it done today,, legs are not good today, maybe later.

Cool, Thanks,, and good stuff Stew,

The next trip to Tyler will be less exciting, I hope.
I'm just wondering if/how much,,, the angle of the wind and the windshield were involved.. I'm USED to the road work wobble, I saw the road, expected some wobble, but it got to be a bit more than I am used to.. and there was a fair breeze, not straight across,

TK makes a fine product.
It fits perfectly, goes on easy considering exact alignments is needed before everything will bolt up but then that is required for this type of device.
I like the heavy look of it and it does the job.

The Superbrace was a total PITA55 to install.
The TKat took 35 minutes.
The X brace aligns so closely I can barely feel the difference in the little overhang, the bolt heads look evenly spaced in the slots. I couldn't get the inside halves of the clamps seated without using the outside and bolts to draw them into position, then loosen, and tap into alignment,,
Just a bit of experience with stuff and it's cake.
Totally spent time staring at the quality of the workmanship.
The beautiful work underneath the X deserved to be appreciated by SOMEONE. And I'm probably going to be the only one who will ever get a chance.

Okay, like every other project, I have to go look at it some more.
That matte finish aluminum on the silver bike is just Good Looking,,
I totally dig it.
And used antiseize.

Yes indeed, the beauty of the milled aluminum is an amazement to me.

My tracker has the Superbrace and it was a very easy install. Works great , feels like the bike is on a rail going thru turns. And it's polished finish looks great on my forks. Don't remember what I paid but I don't regret buying it. The Tkat I guess it is looks more rigid, but it looks heavy & clunky , but everyone seems to like them. Superbrace definitely looks better.
Form over function or function over form ? I think Superbrace does both just fine !
Why install a fork brace , you would think you forks don't flex much but they do , especially when cornering & braking , adding a fork brace totally changes the feeling of your bike when cornering & braking.

I saw a slow motion video of forks being depressed and rebounding once and it was amazing how much flexing they were doing, and then the same set with a fork. Race installed.
Seems like it may have been on a he Superbrace site.

Just find a set of forks with 80000 to 100000 miles strip them down to the tube roll them on a flat surface if their straight then look at the wear in the plating surface, areas where its worn off is where they flex under braking & Corning. Kinda scarey to think your front wheel has a mind of it own and goes where it wants to, fork brace is the best way to minimize that. All in all the whole bike is alive, between forks , frame , swingarm , wheels flexing you just think your in control when actually you are only guiding a bike thru the corners, you become hypersensitive to how it handles and make up for all the flexing going on and you don't even realize it !

Spent months waiting for a Superbrace. Backorder, backorder, backorder.
Canceled the order and will order a TKAT one. He has a few in stock.
