Thanks, hotprops!
The link Versy referenced may have answered your questions, but in short I installed my fork brace as a preventative measure. I wasn't having any issues and my bike has 7000 miles and is stored inside and in great working order, somewhat newer tires, etc., but after riding the Dragon with some members here and them seeing how hard I was tearing the place up (
) they suggested a fork brace.
The only thing I know to make sure is tight (I'm not an S40 expert) is your triple tree top bolts/steering head (shouldn't be loose), your axle nut, and your front fender bolts. If those are all tight (the front fender is pretty solid as far as fenders) then you have a tire issue or a bearing issue...maybe.
The fork brace just makes things a little tighter and keeps the wheel from straying away from you on road tar snakes and heavily front loaded turns, like the Dragon. Without it, the forks can twist a little.
Yes, TKAT has just about all of the dimensions. Just email him your info and he will tell you if he doesn't...as well as tell you current lead time. Varies depending on what he has going on but he's legit, no worries. I think I got mine in a few weeks, but that was because he was having computer issues and he was good about keeping me informed...but I wasn't in any kind of rush.
Hope that helps!
