It is a 2013 model, but got it new, so you make a valid point. should I not make any changes and just do the oil change myself? Anything else I need to be aware off attend to at this point?

You can push the cover all the way down with one hand. If you can't, somethings wrong.

It is a 2013 but when did you buy it and how long is the warranty today? If it is still under warranty I personally wouldn't make those changes until the warranty was off.

Suzuki wont cover anything that goes wrong.
