Well ,

I just pulled the trigger on a "Real Gas Tank ",

I'm sure there will be a few Mod's to make it fit ... if it don't I just blew 200 + $ .    So , if there is any way to make it work thats what going to happen !

MM, That is even bigger than mine! Just checked mine, 18" wide & 23" long. Yours should be short enough to still use your current seat and not look as FAT as mine. I hope the tunnel is wide enough to clear the decomp and stuff for you. You will have to make a custom mount and cut off the posts for the rubber mounts. Measure twice, cut once. After the stock mounts are gone there is no going back.
Keep us posted here, and Good Luck!!!

That is one narrow looking tunnel - especially for the area at the back where the frame "y"s.

So....is it easier to modify the tunnel on the tank - or to move the stuff on the frame and modify the "y"?

I used a hammer on my gt550 tank instead of the relief that dave welded in.
This tank will be different though.  I think the tunnel is welded in.
So to modify it, you'll need to cut and weld in new pieces.

In Put is good !  Wink

Yea , 19.5 inches long / 13 inches wide ,  its high off the frame back-bone -- but only 3/4 inch higher than the stock speedometer .   Total height is only 8 inches so that only 3.5 inches over the tunnel.

The tunnel is only 4.5" deep --- 3/4 - 1 inch for clearance means the tank does not go to the decompression thingie (I think ?)   If it does make it to the Decompression thing then I can "" Modify ""  Tongue   .   I've got a welder and am very well versed with it.  Wink   Got Brazing equipment too.   My first thought was to mount "slide-on mounts like the factory tank has.  Roll Eyes.

It should be here in a week or so ???

I'm more concerned about the dash lights .   I ordered a new speedometer with : 1 green , 1 blue , 2 yellow ,2 black , 1 red  wires , and three lights : green , blue , yellow.
Only thing is ---
Its in Kmh , I use the Garmin anyway with gps speedometer , and know 100 Kmh = 60 mph ish ,  125 = 75 ish ,  50 Kmh = 30 mph ish , 25 Kmh = 15 mph , etc .
But I use the Neutral indicator , and the turn signal , and the bright indicator  .

So can anybody tell me what speedometer cable to order ?  Huh

Sorry, can't help with the cable.

Can you take the face off the speedo and renumber it so that it reflects mph instead of kph?

It doesn't bother me that its in Kph .   Its a very quick calculation based on 100 Kph = 60 mph   or  multiply by (.6) .

Does not include gas cap or petcock. Fit and pressure test all tanks prior to body work and paint.

thanks for the tip on pressure testing JOG .    I hadn't thought of that .   I did get the petcock (22mm) and a gas cap when I ordered the tank.

You do know not to use much pressure on the test..

I would guess :
enter air through the petcock in the  (30-40 psi) range .  Huh

you think that's too much ?

with a small piece of heavy plastic under the gas cap - I did order a VENTED gas cap.

I would go with 10 - 15 psi you don't want to test the welds, just check for leaks.
You might be able to use a radiator type pressure tester.
Or I'd just take a piece of rubber tube put a plate with a fitting on it.
You need to test the petcock seal as well.

mid eighties model Suzuki GT750 tach cable is a direct swap for our speedo cable, just a couple to three inches longer which is perfect for speedo relocate.

There you go (note to self, get one)
