Seized engine?
09/28/16 at 11:52:27

long time no talk ...

Stopped for gas and hit freeway, was riding home and she just shutoff.

Battery checked - OKAY
Wiring connections - OKAY
Right cover pulled - Timing chain and cam tensioner - OKAY

Left side inspection cover, socket rotates motor - OKAY
(not sure how much pressure is req'd to spin motor, easy/light pressure or forceful/heavy?)

Is my engine seized?

How do I check?

socket rotates motor

It's not seized Now.
If it seized it stopped turning over. Should've made the tire slide. Should've made noise, like metal grabbing metal.
If you just lost power and rolled to a stop, plenty of stuff can do that.

seized means frozen, does not rotate.

So when she shutoff... did you skid to a stop?
or at least skided till you pulled in the clutch?

Before you pull the plug, clean out the cavity it sits in.
Take a spare plug, hook it to the plug wire, ground it, and check spark While the starter motor is working, making compression.
Check battery voltage WHILE the starter is working.
Grow a pair

A

Could be a spark plug breaking... I've never seen it happen,,

Any direction you think the sound came from?

It bothers me that sometimes it turns over and sometimes it doesn't.

Any clattering as it coasted down?
Does it feel like it's got compression when you turn it over by hand?
If you can push it in first gear, that's not good.

I'd grab a volt meter and see what v's you have sitting idle and while starting.

less than 10v it won't start.

as long as it sounds normal, you can try and start it.

I had a bearing cage go on the counterballancer.  most of the time it sounded normal.  every once in a while it'd screech for a few seconds.  then the cage failed completely and it made a lot of noise.  screeching, clanging and banging.

DesertRat,
I know this is not likely but what about fuel?

The way it just stopped after fueling, maybe?

Let us know what you find.

I'd get a hot battery on it,
I'd have ether handy.
And if the exhaust messed up and clogged up, it's not gonna run good,
Haven't seen that ever, except on catalytic converters, gathering rust across, but they don't make a

Noise.

Without the plug it Should be spinning great. .

When you turn the engine over by hand (left side crank with a socket and breaker bar) - do you feel the engine come up on the compression stroke (gets harder to turn), then suddenly it goes over top dead center and wants to unload the compression and you have to hold it back a bit?  (This confirms the engine has compression, and that the cam and valves are operating properly).

Good point, maybe bad gas, drain and replace.  May run fine.

Bad results without voltages doesn't tell us anything.
Unless you're charging the battery, you're just gonna run it down
