Here in Athens Ga we have a halloween parade that i'm planning to take my Suzuki savage to. I'll be Ghost Rider in this Parade. I was wondering since the Savage is Air cooled would my bike be ok with that or is this a bad idea?
Last year I think I was walking int hat parade for a good 30 mins. so i'd probably in 1st nudging along for about that long. maybe neutral at some points.

I have ridden at parade speeds before.
It is tough on your clutch hand, it is tough on the clutch.  I have seen Harley's pull out from the clutch over heating.  If you are lucky, there will be down hill stretches where you can just leave it in neutral (or shut it down completely).
Depending on your surroundings (who is in front, back, to the side), you might be able to get your speed up and then weave back and forth to stay at parade speed.

Unless you have done that kind of riding before, you should practice before the actual event.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

I was in a parade once (actually it wasn't a real parade....it was just riding through main street in Gatlinburg on a day that was 90+).  The traffic was bumper to bumper, and we would only get a few cars through the intersection with each light change - it sounds very much like the 30 minute ride in and out of first gear like your parade will be.  I just shut the engine off and duck walked the bike through most of the light changes.

The bike might make it through the parade - but it won't do it any good.  The high temperatures and low oil pressure at idle speeds is just a bad combination.  If you do go.....switch to synthetic oil for the parade.....it might help some.
