You never know what Trump will say. It seems he has some loose tongue driven by crazy thoughts.... Now it seems like Hillary has caught the disease. Why in the world is this lady making any charges based on a hunch, assumption, etc, about money, when she herself is under the same suspicion, with no more evidence than what she charges Trump with.... GAWD, I better get A LOT of popcorn
Clinton: Trump 'clearly has something to hide' with tax returns
By NICK GASS 09/06/16 01:44 PM EDT
Donald Trump "clearly has something to hide" with his tax returns, Hillary Clinton said Tuesday, tearing into her Republican opponent for his remark that "people don't care" about the documents. "He said that the American people don't care about his tax returns. And in fact, he's also said that it's none of our business. I just think he's dead wrong," Clinton told reporters en route to a campaign event in Tampa, Florida.
Pointing to the decades of history that Trump is defying with his refusal to release his tax returns while they are under audit, Clinton remarked upon the businessman's record of bankruptcies and repeated lawsuits against him. Clinton also brought up the $2,500 fine paid by Trump to the Internal Revenue Service after his company's charitable foundation was found to have made an improper donation to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as she weighed a case against his Trump University seminar program. Trump has said there was no discussion about the donation in their phone call in question.
"The New York Times discovered about $650 million owed to foreign banks and foreign entities. The business activities that had stiffed workers, refused to pay small businesses," Clinton continued, remarking upon the relationships with the Kremlin between Trump and those in his campaign. "So clearly his tax returns tell a story that the American people deserve and need to know. And his continuing claim, that he can't release his tax returns because he's been disproved repeatedly. And so the question really is, will he abide by the precedent that everyone else, Republican and Democrat alike have fulfilled in providing that critical information to the American people?"
Not only is the burden on Trump to produce but it is also on "the rest of us, in the campaign, on our side, the press, the public, to demand what a big majority of the American public says they want, which is for him to release his tax returns."
"So I'm going to continue to raise this because I think it is a fundamental issue about him in this campaign that we're going to talk about and one way or another for the next 62 days because he clearly has something to hide," she said. "We don't know exactly what it is, but we're getting better guesses about what it probably is."
