Would like to put on some fresh rear shocks that maybe have a bit more travel. Have seen references to doing that on the forum, but no specifics as to brand/type of shock. Recommendations?

Our stock shocks are 10" progressive shocks can be obtained in different lengths and with different springs ( what you pick should depend on your weight ,or if you ride two up or carry loads on trip ,etc.) most people go to 11 1/2 or 12'' which give 3' travel over 2'' stock. go to the progressive site and look at the 412 series ,then look at different sites to find the best price ,mine were 150bucks and came with bushings to fit any bike

I'm tall, I guess, at 6'2"; seems more leg length than waist- to- crown tho! To my mind, a longer travel shock would provide a softer, more compliant ride, but that's only an assumption on my part. I only weigh 160lb, but it seems I hit "bottom" on my current shocks fairly frequently. I also wanted to see how changing the height of the rear would alter the handling. Not that I find the steering problematic, but I would prefer something more akin to what I had in a previous bike (Moto Guzzi California).

Posts: 3806 osceola new york Gender:	Re: Rear shocks Reply #12 - 08/27/16 at 15:39:21 I went with progressive's ,with the heavy duty springs be cause I normally ride two up, combined weight 340lbs, and my passenger has a couple of bad discs, I went with a longer shock to allow longer movement and the side benefit of reduced steering angle which does allow quicker handling and less ,or no ,in my case, peg scraping.
