Absolutely..
It was mentioned earlier, you don't have an air filter..
And it's running lean anyway,
Get your intake setup , then jet.
It's possible that will solve it.
Could be a sticky slide.

All this Peacock, err petcock talk has me thinking...

Why not just run the stock petcock in the prime position?  Isn't that open just like a raptor?  (Without reserve as JOG pointed out in the next post.)

If the diaphragm is split then it'll suck fuel in, so, gotta plug the vacuum.
On prime there is no reserve. It coughs, you're a pedestrian.

Right, I realize you don't have a reserve.

I'm thinking more along the lines of trouble shooting.  "Replace the petcock first" is recommended quite often.  Why not just run on Prime first?  If it runs better, you know know the petcock is the problem.

Wait, suck fuel in where?  Are you saying into the vacuum line on the carb?

If there is a hole in the petcock diaphragm, the fuel can be pulled through the hole and it will flow down the vacuum line.  When the bike is running it can make the bike run horrible....when the bike is not running it can flood the crankcase and/or air filter box with gasoline.

Here is the test method for the vacuum petcock.

Thanks guys, that clears things up.  I knew there had to be a reason it wouldn't be so simple.  Smiley

It's simple, really, it's just not a good idea.
