No, I've known a few cops. There are 3 that live around me. Their policy is not shoot first, ask questions later. If you reach into your jacket (even in a non-threatening way), the cop is trained to look at that as a
possible threat. You might be pulling out a gun. It's the same thing as a mc rider seeing something move in his peripheral vision. You look to see if it's a threat to your safety. If things get ugly, the cops are usually more trained than anyone else to shoot accurately. I'd rather hear of a cop shooting an armed assailant than the other way around. I still say we're safer with them than without them.
I'm not denying that we are safer with cops than without them. In no way do I want to see any cop hurt for any reason. I'm glad you have good cops around you, however, do you think that ALL cops are created equal? in training, in education, in years of service? I am not anti-cop. But not all cops are angels that can do no wrong. Everyone can make a mistake. To give cops a blanket pass on all ill behavior is ignorant. I agree that a lot of these BLM shootings should be seen as examples of how NOT to behave on the "victim's" side. Most cops are great, but there are issues that need to be dealt with, quota systems, paying for cops via ticketing, increased militarization, no civil oversight, etc...
as shown in the link YOU provided, there are BAD cops, The cop in your link seems to have been looking for trouble, hopefully he'll get some kind of disciplinary action, he probably shouldn't be on the street.
a quote from your link:
"“I’m as pro-law-enforcement as they come, but that’s not good police conduct,” he told the Chronicle. “You can’t escalate a situation and then claim someone is ‘resisting arrest.’ That’s ridiculous.”
In an interview with The Post, he added: “This officer escalated the situation from a peaceful encounter over a traffic stop to this sort of confrontation that was completely unneeded. He should have just written her a traffic ticket. He never even started to write her a traffic ticket.”
Fertitta told The Post that he is working to get White’s charge dismissed so it does not affect her professional career."
