Grind the plunger down just a little bit at a time till it fits. I did mine last week and it seems ill have to do the same thing when it comes time to replace the cam chain.

well I hit the plastic holder-closer doohickey with my thumb and the spring went flying so I have to find it first duh

Any pressure greater than the spring pressure is just gonna be crushing the cam into the head, ripping into chain life, no wins, all losses.
A softer spring than stock and a drilled hole with a stiffer spring at the mounting post would be good.

well JOG I have just a teensie bit of slack in the adjsuter, just a smidguen.

I understand the part about not putting too much tension on the adjuster side of the chain.

How about I grind off a loop of the spring?

Alternatively I could drill down inside the adjuster housing by 1/4" or a tad more to take some pressure off the spring?  

One more thing I'm on the first click for the plunger. Personally I think that the second is more better. I'm not sure the first one is there for any reason other than just a manufacturing artifact.

Yeah I'd have to see a pic of that other spring I can't fathom it.

Well thanks so much for being there I think Ima drill down 1/4" on the inside for spring slackness and call it good. That shoukld give me the click on the slider I want and take off some of the pressure by the 3mm I should have choked up on the hole with. Maybe grind off 1mm off the end of the plunger/slider too.
