Welcome to the forum! (I see this is your first post).

I don't know what the trick is as I haven't taken on this task before, but hang tight and some of the more seasoned folks will be along shortly to offer you some direction. If you haven't been lurking already, you will find that this is a great forum full of help...all for the small price of asking  Wink

From the factory, they can be tuff as they are glued on pretty good.

1st you know the plastic pieces on the ends are just pressed on?
so just pull them off.

Start with the clutch side.

wd40 will help break the glue bond, some use cheap hair spray.
if you got a compressor, stick an air nozzle in between the rubber and steel and try to blow it up like a balloon.
then squirt some wd in there.
repeat.

once you get it loose all the way around, apply the air from the control side, twist and pull the grip off.

As an alternate, I use 3 skinny phillips screw drivers in between the rubber and steel.  And this will help when you do the throttle side as there are ribs molded into the throttle tube and if you thought the clutch side was tuff...

3rd alternate, cut 'm off.

You can use the stock cables with 8 or 10" depending on if you started with buckhorn or drag.

13" will probably need new cables.

Old machinist trick is to mix acetone and atf fifty fifty.  It penetrates and leaves the atf behind.   Works on stuck metal.  If the acetone doesn't harm the grip, should work.

I've never heard of anyone finding an extension with the right connectors so you'll probably end up extending the wiring yourself.

https://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/custom/ makes custom cables.

I ran 13.5" rise for years. Extend the harness yourself, there we no prefab kits. Extra length stock style clutch/throttle cables can be ordered from Barnett or Motion Pro. You get what you pay for, so, use Barnett. Order a brake hose at the same time.

My bike with high bars used a VN700/750 clutch cable, which has a fine adjustment lacking in the Suzuki cable. I used a CB/KZ chopper throttle cable in the stock housing. It will not screw in, wire tie the cable to the bar and call it good.

Have you ever used high bars before? The risers on our bikes are cheap cast zinc... The bar WILL move unless pinned in place.
