Brake pad thickness
07/28/16 at 09:54:03

I got some cheap pads that are too thick.

I found 1 post that says it should be 7mm thick.

Mine measure 8.5mm.

Does anybody have a measurement for new pad thickness to confirm?

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

Verslagen,

I have new brake pads in the package that measure 9.38mm including the packaging and the packaging measures 1.06mm.

I am guessing my pads measure  measure almost 8.5mm

I understand that some ATV bikes use the same pad shape for the rear axle - but they do have thicker material.

Have a belt sander or a Milling machine? Huh

I wish they'd let use the surface grinder   Cool
But I took a 1mm off with big @$$ disc grinder.
I'll have to check the piston to see if it's stuck.

Verslagen,

Are you saying there was not enough space for the new pads to fit in the brake cylinder and then slide the cylinder back over the disk?

I just looked at the reviews on the pads I purchased and there is nothing negative reported.

I used the EBC FA106 pads and had no problems getting them to fit. I seem to remember someone saying another part number was too thick. Whatcha using?

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

Good to hear ya got it figgerd out.
Hey, what're your plans for a new disc?  And how many miles are showing currently?  I've seen EBC rotors supposedly for our bikes bt never investigated whether they truly have the correct mounting points.
