Fork brace
07/16/16 at 14:27:34

Hey ya'll -

Has anyone installed a tkat fork brace on their 2013 S40?  I bought one, and can't seem to make it fit.  Am I missing something or does not just not work for my bike?

Thanks!

You have to remove the fork guards.

If you could snap a couple of picts and add it to this...

Hooks,

It is good to cover the fender with the cardboard from a cereal box so that you don't scratch the paint when you are trying to maneuver the fork brace into place.

Who makes that brace? Looks very rigid. Not real attractive but very functional. Brand name anyone ?

Verslagen, I think maybe you didn't add your message.

Mrs. Hooks, have you made progress?
I used a wood chisel, very carefully, to split the plastic .

Thanks for the tips & pics! I'm waiting for the rain to stop to try and give this another go - I have no place to work on it that's under cover.   I'll update ya'll one way or the other.

Hi Ya'll!

Finally had a day without rain, work, or other issues and was able to get out and get this done!  I removed the fork guards with tin snips, and the rest was easy.  I'm interested to see if it improves the handling.

Thanks for all your advice, and ride safe!

I see a lot of posts about these braces but no one ever comes back and reports how well they perform. Please don't leave us hangin'!  Wink

Kris,

Some where on the forum I reported positive results.

The biggest change that I noticed after installing the T-Kat was that the front end of the bike didn't follow the famous Texas asphalt snakes that we contend with every day.

To me it feels more stable at 70 MPH on a windy day.

Some have reported no discernible change. I saw real improvement with the Superbrace. I plan on riding the snot outta the one I am getting. Or, maybe the changes in ME that I have seen in the last year will allow me to adopt a more survivable riding style and I won't Need a brace. But, IF I just can't ride calmly And it doesn't feel stable, I'll be hitting Mr. T-Kat up.

Thanks guys! So it's 50/50 helpful/worthless!  Grin

I guess, like Kenny said, if you ride at higher speeds, it may be worthwhile. If you ride calmly, like you have something to live for, it's not much benefit Or, like JOG, if you're burning up the road, you may see a discernible change in handling for the better.
