Chalky exhaust valves
07/14/16 at 17:18:35

So I had to remove my exhaust the other day and I figured I take a look inside the exhaust port and noticed the valves were a tiny bit chalky, but not white. My plug looks good, and I'm at sea level with a Mac performance upswept pipe, original idle jet(47.5 I think), 152.5 main, and the white spacer mod. What could be causing this?

Bike is a 2006 s40, only mods I've done are the raptor petcock, white spacer, 152.5 jet, air fuel screw plug removed, stock intake, and a mac performance pipe, not open, but close to it. I cleaned the pipe with blue job and that was about 1000 miles ago, and the blueing hasn't come back. Also what does my hat have to do with it? And my hands? Huh

Naah,he isn't dangerous.. a bit stalkerish sometimes,,, but don't worry. If you start thinking you're needing a restraining order, I will forward the P.M.s I have. But, really, a sweety here, a honeybunch there,, it's really pretty harmless.. I shouldn't have gotten so upset..
Sorry, Ray,
I hope you will unnertand and forgive me.

White is a common color for the Savage valves.  Valves used to be a nice golden brown color in the days of leaded fuel....but not anymore!

I think the white color is because the engine runs so lean. Lean=hot. It's not dangerous and won't hurt anything. It could also be deposits from the fuel but this isn't common on the exhaust valve. You usually find fuel deposits on the intake valve because it runs cooler.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!
