Looking for a top bag that fits
06/29/16 at 23:07:43
Hi guys. Any one here ever put a top case or tail bag on your savage. I have the sissy seat but no rack. I broke a bolt off in the threads for the rear rack and then broke a carbide tap off inside too! So I can't re thread. This is the stocks sissy seat. Can I drill it to attach some kind of mount. I want it to put my lunch in and tools that I can't fit in my fork bag. I don't want to wear a backpack. Any ideas appreciated. I don't like the saddle bag option but would consider hard saddle bags. Is that sissy bar, or pillion seat? I made a bracket to slip on the sissy bar to carry a 21" carry-on suitcase. I still use the suitcase, but the bracket is in the garage and is free as long as you pay shipping.
I did consider removing the pillion seat, welding/bolting a frame and building a 18" wide x 24" long x 9" tall pick-up box.
With the Savage, you can do
anything
and it still looks good.

I have a small bag that came with the bike when I bought it. It straps under the pillion and could probably hold a gallon of milk if I tried hard enough. It unstraps in seconds if I need to remove it. I have no clue where to find something like this though.

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!
