That might be the case that it simply begins to appear again but since I've just bought this bike a couple of weeks ago, I'm not sure what the previous owner might have done to cause it. If they just revved it a lot at lights and let it idle for 10-20 minutes at a time, it won't happen to me like it did with them.

And zipidachimp, a ceramic coating sounds pretty cool. I think I'd like the black coating on it. I wonder where I could get that done. Huh

I've had mine for a year with no change in appearance. The silver is like a 'semi-gloss' chrome.

Cleaned my pipe today for the first time. I am at 6500+ miles and this is all original. Not too bad, but likely due to lean jetting and mixture until I learned how to work on the bike and such. Blue Job did pretty good, but I will note that I didn't scrub the living snot out of it either. The bronzing didn't really bother me, so I figured if I could knock a little off, why not.

Mine was showroom sparkly bright until I sat and racked it off listening to valves at 5,000 miles.

The hotter the header gets, the darker the color.
