throttle routing for ape hangers?

So I discovered that I can use my oem throttle cable with my 12 inch apes if I swing it out to the side instead of wiring it through the forks and behind the headlight. I would like to get the proper length cable later but i'm tight on funds now and want to get her running. Anybody done this before? Any major reasons why I shouldn't do this?

Reply #1 - 06/27/16 at 16:40:45 Make sure it CAN'T catch or hang-up on ANYTHING. If anything can go wrong, well,,,, there is no good time for a stuck throttle, anytime is BAD.

I have put on some buckhorns and could use an extra 12". steady- I have a universal cable that is long enough, but the thread going into the switch housing (M12 x 1.0 ?) is making it difficult to make an adapter for it.
