Oil level dipstick?
06/24/16 at 21:24:33

Has anyone tried to make a oil level dipstick or any such thing? My oil level sight glass is really cloudy and very difficult to make out the oil level.

from the oil fill it's got a long way to go past a nasty gear.
the window will probably clear up once you run it.

What Verslagen said....
My sight window is pretty clear, but I always feel like I'm going to drop the bike on my head every time I try to hold it level and check the oil window.... Wink

The solution is simple, you don't have to hold it perfectly level, just enough level so it don't tip over.
Find a brick and put it under the kickstand.
One of my friends gave me a 'gag' gift sometime back that had a couple cut bricks.
He had no idea why I said "wow, just what I needed" and walked joyfully away with a brick in each hand.

I have seen the thread(s) by some who have crated a "centerstand" that is removeable - kinda like the dirt bikes used.

What I am wondering, on my 2011 S40, I notice a piece of frame welded between the two down tubes, just behind the engine.  It appears to have no purpose whatsoever.  I am wondering if this piece of frame has been (or could be) used for a centerstand location?   A centerstand would make the oil checking issue better.
