How did you mount your solo seat?

I know about the trick for mounting the nose of the seat, but what are you doing to secure the rear? Sprung or unsprung? Photos would be much appreciated.

It doesn't need securing. Your backside will hold it down. Just secure your springs to the seat and call it good.

How I did mine in June '08 --

That was a cushy seat. The Savage isn't much better than a hard tail, I think like 3" of suspension; but three inches spring under your butt makes it really nice.

I have a Biltwell solo seat on mine. Got one of those hinged mounting kits. Base of the hinge is welded to the frame crossmember right by where the tank attaches.
I made some rubber feet for the rear of the seat. They just sit on the frame rails. Nothing to secure the rear of the seat. As gizzo said, my backside holds it down.
Keep in mind, mine isn't a hard tail, so I didn't feel the need to run seat springs. I think it looks much better, since my seat hugs the frame really closely.
If you want some pics, let me know. I have a bunch documenting how I made the feet and how it sits.

Also keep in mind that I'm still in the building stage, so I can't say for sure that I won't regret not using seat springs once I get it back on the road

If you go with springs use the coils as the others might be good for turning hot dogs but are known to fail.
