18" rear wheel
06/15/16 at 12:54:13

ok, so i've been plundering my workshop and a mate's garage and i've got a set of mudguards (fenders) and some handlebars, seat etc to turn a savage into a 1940's style bike. i dont have the bike yet but i like to prepare! are there any retrofit 18" wire wheels that will fit or is it a case of lacing an 18" rim to the existing hub? any clearance or belt issues?  thanks in advance for any abuse/advice.

I don't know if any of the Suzuki GT bikes....or the T500 could be used.  Good wheel/rims of that era are a bit hard to find in workable condition.

Here is a link to a really nice bike in the Build Section.

A book, is A start. Not really hard to put A book somewhere.
I'm envisioning a place now.
The need to find a way to criticize what I thought was a gentle and supportive reply.  Wow..

Here's a straight answer , you may have swingarm clearance issues depending on tire size of new 18" rim. Easy to modify swingarm. Or what do the call it over there a swinging yoke or something like that.

Does anyone know what size/length spokes we need to lace up an 18" rim?

Any good sources?

Thanks,

Tim
